BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Saying that reckless political manipulation and suppression of certain non-American firms by the United States is doomed to "boomerang," China on Friday urged Washington to rectify its mistake and refrain from politicizing economic issues.
Wang expounded on the clear-cut framework for the relationship.
Zhao said China has a huge market of 1.4 billion people and a complete industrial support system, and many authoritative international organizations believe that China injects confidence and momentum into the world economic recovery.
China will as always welcome European investors and companies from other countries, continue to firmly deepen reform and expand opening up, and provide more cooperation opportunities and development dividends for their operations in China, Wang said.
The so-called "Report on Protecting United States Investors from Significant Risks from Chinese Companies" has recommendations such as enhancing listing standards on U.S. exchanges for access to audit work papers.
Li pointed out that Prime Minister Rajapaksa has been long committed to promoting the friendship between the two countries.
The rise in cases has been blamed on the easing of lockdown regulations by authorities and non-compliance of prevention measures. The epidemic has flared up in some communities.
"The U.S. move to turn China into an adversary is a fundamental, strategic miscalculation. It means that the United States is funneling its strategic resources in the wrong area," he said.
"It's not fair to make such allegations without giving any evidence and to accuse China of not giving American companies a level playing field while at the same time they themselves are denying Chinese companies such a level playing field. This is extremely unfair," he said.
"After all, what would happen to business confidence if governments assumed that they could extort private enterprises at will?" Wei added.
"We urge the U.S. side to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of three China-U.S. joint communiques, stop official interactions and contact of all kinds as well as the upgrading of substantive relations with the island, and handle Taiwan-related issues in a prudent and proper manner, so as not to seriously damage China-U.S. cooperation in major areas as well as peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait," Zhao added.
