Zhang Jun, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, expounded on China's principled position on Kashmir during the Security Council's closed-door discussions on Wednesday, said the spokesperson.
NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The spokesperson of China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations said Wednesday that the Chinese ambassador has called on parties concerned to exercise restraint in Kashmir.
Kim noted that the restrictions will be lifted considering that the province recently reported no new COVID-19 cases and that the Chinese government started Wednesday to accept visa applications from South Koreans.
Zhang said that India unilaterally changed the status quo of Kashmir through constitutional amendments in August 2019, stoking tensions in the region. A year later, there is no fundamental improvement but a risk of further escalation in the situation of Kashmir, according to the spokesperson.
The director stressed the importance of respecting different cultures of different countries.
In the interview, Wang refuted a series of recent U.S. moves hurting bilateral ties, including U.S. closing the Chinese Consulate-General in Houston, launching global campaign against Chinese companies, making fierce attacks on the Communist Party of China and interfering into China's internal affairs.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in his recent fact-twisting speech at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, claimed that America's policy of engagement with China is wrong and has failed, in a bid to deny the tremendous benefits the two sides have jointly delivered to their peoples and the rest of the world, and legitimize his call to form an anti-China alliance.
"Those who play with fire will get burnt," Zhao said, urging certain American people not to have illusions about issues concerning China's core interests.
It is worth noting that a 15-year "long-term vision" is mentioned along with the 14th Five-Year Plan this year, aiming for 2035 when the country's socialist modernization is expected to be basically achieved.
In the meantime, China will firmly defend its sovereignty, security and development interests, because this is a legitimate right inherent in China being an independent sovereign state, Wang stressed.
Quoting a Czech proverb that says "people are often caught in their own trap," the embassy urged Pompeo to stop spreading political viruses and false information, interfering in China's internal affairs, and subverting the unity and cooperation of the international community. Enditem
